Dóchas Offaly Cancer Support Group a full member of the alliance of community cancer support Centres and services 2024-2027

Dochas Offaly Cancer Support Group undertook a Peer Review Process in 2023 which outlined our commitment to aligning ourselves to the NCCP Best Practice Guidance for Community Cancer Support Centres. This guidance established by the National Cancer Control Programme made us look at all of of our procedures, policies, processes and established protocols to ensure we were implementing our service delivery plan to the highest order.

Self-assessment was based on a centres’ judgement of compliance in relation to five guidance areas set out under the NCCP’s recommendations for best practice. The self-assessment process included an external review via a peer review process. Peer review is a professional assessment, against standards, of an organisation in relation to healthcare processes and quality of work, with the objective of facilitating its improvement.

Successfully completing and implementing a comprehensive action plan in 2023 outlines our commitment to our clients, their families, friends and to all who support our service that we are committed to providing a highly professional service and hopefully will outline to our clients our commitment to providing the best standard of care to them while availing of our service.

We are honoured to be one of 16 centres who have successfully undertaken this process and now form the Alliance of Community Cancer Support Centres and Services and we look forward to leading the way in providing Psychosocial supports to all our clients over the coming years.
