Caring for People
Living with Cancer
Dóchas Offaly Cancer Support Group
At Dóchas Offaly Cancer Support Group, we are dedicated to supporting people across the Midlands whose lives have been affected by cancer.
We provide high-quality psychosocial cancer support in a warm, welcoming and confidential environment. Our services are designed to care for the whole person — supporting physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual wellbeing at every stage of the cancer journey. We also recognise that cancer affects families and friends, and we are here for them too.
As a proud member of the Alliance of Community Cancer Support Centres and Services (2024–2027), Dóchas is committed to delivering services in line with national best practice guidelines established by the National Cancer Control Programme. This ensures our work complements clinical care and forms part of a comprehensive approach to cancer support in Ireland.

Our Services
We offer a wide variety of Complementary Therapies
Reflexology
Reflexology is a holistic therapy, in that it treats the whole body and not the symptoms of the illness, therefore most people benefit regardless of age or sex. Illness, stress, injury or disease can cause the body to go out of balance and Reflexology helps to restore this balance in a gentle way.

Massage
Massage can help reduce both anxiety and symptoms for cancer patients. The focus of massage therapy is to restore health to the body. Massages for cancer patients are customised because understanding the clients individual progress, treatments, side effects and pain helps massage therapists determine appropriate areas to massage.
Counselling
At Dóchas Offaly Cancer Support Group, we understand that cancer affects much more than physical health. It can bring fear, uncertainty, anxiety and emotional strain for individuals and for those close to them.
Our professional counselling service provides a safe, confidential space where you can talk openly about your experience. Whether you are newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment, living with advanced cancer, in survivorship, or supporting a loved one, our qualified counsellors are here to listen and support you.
Counselling at Dóchas is delivered as part of our psychosocial cancer support services and is aligned with national best practice guidelines from the National Cancer Control Programme.
This service is part-funded by the Irish Cancer Society, and we are deeply grateful for their ongoing support, which helps ensure counselling remains accessible to those who need it.

Physiotherapy
At Dóchas Offaly Cancer Support Group, we are pleased to offer a specialist physiotherapy service to support people living with and beyond cancer.
In line with the survivorship and rehabilitation approach of the National Cancer Control Programme, our physiotherapy service focuses on improving physical wellbeing, function and quality of life. Cancer and its treatments can affect strength, mobility, energy levels and confidence in your body. Our Chartered Physiotherapist provides individual assessment and personalised rehabilitation to help you manage fatigue, pain, stiffness, reduced mobility and other treatment-related effects.
Our aim is to support you to move well, feel stronger, and return to the activities that matter most to you — at your own pace and in a safe, supportive environment.
